In folklore a hellhound is a supernatural dog. Features that have been attributed to hellhounds include black fur, glowing eyes, super strength or speed, ghostly or phantom characteristics, foul odor, and sometimes even the ability to talk.
In Young Dracula a 'hellhound' appears to be a type of wolf. Zoltan is the only hellhound who appears in the series and he is a taxidermy victim (he's stuffed with sawdust). Hellhounds may be able to talk as this is an ability which Zoltan possesses.
